Coffee Date | Caitlin Gilbert from Beautique Love shares her destination wedding advice

Good friend of Aisle Style Caitlin Gilbert runs Beautique Love, a Make Up Artistry business based out of Cowaramup, Western Australia. Her work is clean, fresh and flawless. Coming from a Make Up background myself I know a good artist when I see one and I would recommend Caitlin to any Aisle Style brides!

Something you may not know about Caitlin is that on the 10th of June 2013 she tied the knot with the love of her life Brodie in Legian, Bali. As I was planning my own wedding abroad I was very keen to pick her brains on the do’s and don’ts of a destination wedding.

Q. What was the style of your wedding?

Our wedding had a beach/surf style, embracing our surroundings and reflecting our lifestyle.

Q. How many guests came over for it?

85. We had 4 Groomsman and 4 Bridesmaids.

Q. What was your ceremony like?

We actually had a Buddhist ceremony which was a really great, interesting experience. It was nice for our guests to witness a ceremony many had never experienced before!

Q. Tell me about your reception, was it at the same venue? What was the food like?

Yes same venue. The reception was a sit down dinner, with lanterns hung from above and a buffet feast was served. The food was so good!

Q. What was the song for your first dance?

First dance was to Elton John Tiny Dancer. The highlight of my night was when Brodie got out a guitar and sang Ron Pope ‘You’re the reason I come home’. (The smile on Caitlin’s face as she tells me this says it all)

Q. So tell me, what are your do’s?

Hire a videographer, I wish we had. The day goes so fast and there were moments I wish I could relive through a video, like Brodie’s song. Another thing is getting a wedding planner on board, I couldn’t have done it without one.

Q. What is your biggest advice to couples thinking about tying the knot in Bali?

Understand you can’t have everything you want, you’re not going to be able to do as much DIY as you might if you were to have a wedding at home. Accept it for what it is.

Q. Lucky last question, Beautique Love is your business that offers Make Up, tanning, waxing, manicures and pedicures. For all our brides-to-be reading this when should they get their waxing done, spray and nails done prior to the big day?

Ideally you want to do your waxing 1 week prior to the day, spray tans look best on day 3 and leave your nails to the day before!

If you’re looking for a Make Up Artist for your big day you can contact Caitlin at caitlin@beautiquelove.com.au or check out the Beautique Love website.

We like you, let’s stay in touch!
